Jonathan Lynn grew up in Jacksonville Beach, enjoying the coastal waters and inland waterways of Northeast Florida. After attaining a BA in Art Education at the University of North Florida he spent a summer in the Tetons and springtime in Samoa before moving to Ghana as a Peace Corps Volunteer. In 2002 Jonathan returned to Florida, where he took a position teaching art, math and reading at multiple Jacksonville schools. During this time he started a family, played some amazing music in bands Skungari and The Homesteaders and completed a Masters Degree in public administration at the University of North Florida.
In 2014 he moved back to the beaches community where he grew up; buying a adjacent to Dutton Island and working as an art teacher at a school in close proximity to his favorite surf break in Hanna Park. The relocation was an opportunity to reunite with the coastal culture and landscape that has long been inspiring to the artist.
